Our Mission

The mission of the Friends of Tewksbury Tennis, Inc. is to act as a Booster Club to support the game of tennis in the Tewksbury community for youths 18 years or younger. FTT is a 501c3 non-profit corporation.

How We Started

In 2010, a small, dedicated group of Tewksbury residents had a vision of forming a group to support the high school tennis program, promote a love of tennis, and investigate the construction of more tennis courts in the town of Tewksbury.

The group met, pursued it’s goals, and eventually created by-laws and successfully filed for 501(c)(3) non-profit status. Our group has grown, and with the completion of five courts at Tewksbury Memorial High School, we are moving ahead to continue to enhance the local tennis offerings.

FTT has accomplished many of our goals, yet still strive to do more and continue to set new goals.

Past Accomplishments and Present Activites

  • Worked with the Community Preservation Committee to secure funding and successfully construct five new courts on the campus of Tewksbury Memorial High School. The courts opened for use in the summer of 2014. This in turn has allowed for expanded lesson offerings from the Community Education Office.

  • Strived for reinstatement of the TMHS boys varsity tennis team.

  • Installation of a storage shed next to the new courts in conjunction with Shea Concrete and Locke Crane donations.

  • Participation in the TMHS AppleFest.

  • Offer scholarships to graduating seniors who have played for the TMHS tennis teams.

  • Organize and runs an annual Tewksbury OPEN tennis tournament.

  • Offered opportunities for Girl Scouts to earn the tennis Try It badge.

  • Co-ordinate summer round robin opportunities.

  • Participate in the Festival of Trees at the Tewksbury Public Library.

  • Purchased a community message board currently installed at the TMHS courts.
